Despite this being the last edition of Protection Tomorrow in 2021 , there are nothing but high hopes for a successful year ahead , particularly now that we have started to make movements out of our homes and offices with a little more confidence .

It has certainly been one of the strangest periods in my lifetime and at this stage , I am not too sure how I will view the last 12 , or indeed 18 months plus , in times to come .
Public health , and therefore protection , became everyday topics of conversation during this time and whilst the pandemic has slipped down the order of headlines in recent months , it remains ever present and something we will all have to adapt to in coming years . It is within our capabilities , and I would go as far as to say that it is our responsibility , to keep protection in the spotlight and not allow it to slip down the order of client requirements or our approach and commitment to its provision reduce .
As the year comes to a close , it naturally brings with it a certain level of reflection , and I feel the need to publicly commend our protection project team on the outstanding work they have undertaken over this period . Working largely from their own homes , they have mastered the technology needed to allow us to introduce many new initiatives to meet both a new way of working and an unprecedented demand for education and insight , in order to support you in assisting more of your clients with their protection needs . SimplyProtect has realised its potential with their guidance and is now so much more than a payment path . This team has included a number of individuals whose names you may recognise , but also others you might not . My personal thanks go to Makayla Everitt , Adnan Gill , Gary Harrison , Clare Harris and Samantha Cameron-Carruthers , amongst a cast of supporting providers and industry commentators who have supported the team in leading and driving the delivery of the SimplyProtect Hub and its extensive content , alongside a significant number of highly educational events delivered during the last fourteen months . A job very well done .
Our focus remains firmly fixed upon delivering you the protection support you need , and I now officially welcome the appointment of Emma Vaughan as Head of Protection Services . Emma features within the pages of this edition with articles outlining her approach and thoughts for the future . She will now continue to lead and build upon the support the team has made available .
Your SimplyProtect Hub is in place to be an ever present port of call in supporting your needs across key areas and I ’ m pleased to inform you that we have some significant activity scheduled for 2022 , which will include a range of face-to-face and virtual events to ensure you are kept abreast of innovation and introductions within the market , as well as the latest thinking and research to shed light as we enter this new phase .
As ever , I hope you find some highly engaging content within this edition and that you find it useful in your adviser client conversations . This will be my last introduction for Protection Tomorrow and I now leave you in Emma ’ s very capable and safe hands .
