To bring Aviva DigiCare + to life , here ’ s the story of Domonik , a 32-year-old financial adviser who used the heath check during a stressful time in his life .
Domonik and his family moved into a new house just before the first lockdown in March 2020 . Just weeks after they moved , their newborn son was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and had to spend a week in hospital .
Thankfully he made a good recovery , but the combined stress of their son ’ s illness , a house move and the pandemic meant that healthy
eating took a back seat for Domonik and his wife . They found they were giving the children healthy meals , but they weren ’ t eating well themselves .
Domonik ’ s parents both have type 2 diabetes , so this was playing on his mind . But as Domonik had no actual symptoms , he didn ’ t feel the need to see his GP . When he was offered the chance to use the Aviva DigiCare + annual health check , Domonik thought it might be a good way to help him put his mind at rest without having to go to the doctors .
The health check , provided by Square Health , is a finger-prick blood sample done at home and posted back to a lab . It tests for a range of conditions including diabetes risk , cholesterol risk , liver , kidney and bone health , gout and proteins .
It includes a personalised report and a follow-up consultation with a digital GP , all accessible through the Aviva DigiCare + smartphone app .
When Domonik got his personalised report back it showed that , although his sugar levels were normal , his cholesterol was in the moderate to high range , which was a bit of a shock .
