How can advisers enhance customer understanding?
The adviser’ s role is evolving, and your guidance is absolutely pivotal in clients’ understanding of critical illness cover – which is currently very low.
Without the context behind what a customer will use the proceeds of a claim for, their premium is just a direct debit. But with the right conversation, that direct debit becomes, for example, the funds that can be used to ensure a family can stay in their home if the policyholder is unable to work due to illness. Or, the funds that can be used if a parent needs to take time out and support a sick child. So, those detailed conversations need to be happening.
Making sure your customer is aware of what valueadded services are available is also important, as these are great touchpoints to have with them. You can diarise to contact your customer six months or 12 months after you ' ve set their policy up and ask them if they’ ve used their value-added benefits or had their annual Health Check.
It ' s a really good way to keep in touch with your customers and make sure they remain your customers and don’ t go elsewhere.
